"I'm sorry dear, but you are allergic to TEXAS"
Hahahaha!!! He was so cute and gave me medicine and told me i would be fine if i took it, he said that San Antonio is like the top worst places in the US for allergies or something.  He also said that when he moved here he had the same thing!  After we left I was so relieved to have drugs(medication.. i had to clarify lol.. LJ) cause I was dying!!

then Sister Sorensen said:
"OMG, wasnt that just a Tender Mercy from the Lord!"
& I was like:
"Yeah!!!!! I'm so glad he knew excatly what was wrong so he could give me the medicine!!"
she then said, "oh, no, I meant that you doctor was Asian!"
AHAHAHAHA  I was like "WHAT!? haha "
and she said "I mean u LOVE asians and how many Asian Doctors are there in TEXAS!  That was definitely a gift from God to YOU" & we just laughed all the way home!

HAHAHA Love Sister Sorensen!  & Yes, it is true there are not many Asians here but I love Americans too hahaha idk why people keep saying that.... lol oh gosh!

Ok updates on the Missionary work & the GOSPEL!  Yes, the Church is still true :)  hahah but seriously...  I have never had my Beliefs, my Convictions, and my Faith so tested and strengthened before in my Life.  Everyday I talk to people about God, about the salvation of our souls, about our purpose in life and just Everything.  It's amazing being a Missionary, people tell me things I'm not sure they even tell their friends and family, I hear about peoples hopes, dreams, but also their fears and concerns, and not just worldly concerns but deep sincere heartfelt questions of the soul and am asked these questions every day.  Why have bad thiongs happened to the people I love?  Why is God not answering my prayer?  Why is life so hard? What am I suppose to do, how can I be happy, where can I turn for peace?

As a 21 year old, young adult who honestly has not studied religion for forty years, and has not really had that many life experiences it can seem a little overwhelming to hear all these questions directed to me.  & almost a little foolish in people to think that I have their answers, I know people think sometimes who is this girl and who does she think she is to be here telling me about my relationship with God and stuff.  Honestly, it is really amazing if u think about it that the leaders of the church send out 19-20 something year old youth pretty much to share the Greatest Message in the World!  Who are we to go out and teach pastors of 40 years, or married couples who have raised kids, or people who have gone through all sorts of life experiences.  Who am I, a 21 year old girl from Southern California coming from a place where alot of people I know are atheist and not religious, to be in TEXAS the bible belt of all places to be teaching people who are already religiousm, where everyone pretty much is hard core religious.  Well, that is the amazing thing about Missionary work :)  Aren't I so lucky!  To have this experience where I am humbled down each and every day to the point that I have no choice but to rely 100% on my Savior 24/7.

For everyone that wants the answers to my previously stated questions.  I am 21, I have Not spent my life studying religion, I do Not have all the answers to your questions, I Am human and I'm Not perfect,  But I HAVE BEEN CALLED OF GOD.  TO SERVE IN THE TEXAS SAN ANTONIO MISSION FOR THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LADDER DAY SAINTS.  :)  I am a disciple of Jesus christ and I have been called of him to declare his word to his people that they might have everlasting life.  I have been called to share what I know and I know that the message that I share is true.  :)  It is as simple and as perfect as that.

As missionaries we simply invite.  We invite everyone to come unto Christ, because it is only Through Him and By Him and Of Him that we will find the answers to our questions, we will find happiness in this life and we will be successful.  It is through Him that we come closer to God, and it is through following Him that He will change our lives.

Everyday, I simply wake up and talk to my Father in Heaven, I study his words from the mouths of his chosen Prophets in the Scriptures and the Ensign, & all the Prophets testify of God and his son Jesus Christ and God's plan for us to be happy (commandments), and then I do my best to live what I believe, what I know.  I try to be more Christ like in my actions, I strive to keep All the commandments of God, and throughout the day I am constantly praying and talking to him, whenever I'm concerned of afraid or doubt I turn to him and he is always there to guide me, to remind me im loved and that its ok that im not perfect and he is just like a perfect father in Heaven.  All day long we just talk to people, just speak to people on the street at door steps, every where and I just share with them what I know and invite them to learn more, invite them to come unto Christ and find the answers.  The beautiful thing is we are all searching, we are all striving to do our best and we all have questions and NO MATTER who they are, what their questions, concerns or challenges in life are JESUS CHRIST and His teaching will help them and it is sooo amazing to just be the messagener of this.  I love it soo much!  & when we teach people, we start by praying to God that through his spirit, the Holy Ghost, will help find the answers they are searching for and most importantly they will know that God Lives and They are Loved. <3

My favortie thing is when people realize God's love for them, the fact that they are loved in that very moment in the very state they are at, no matter what is going on in their life what they have done or havent done it DOES NOT MATTER BECAUSE our intrinsic value is not dependant on our actions.  IT NEVER has been and NEVER will be!  NO MATTER what!  WE ARE LOVED BY GOD, he is no respector of Persons, and will never Love us more or less.  Yes, he is happier probably like any parent would be when u make good choices and choose to listen to his prophets and follow him, but the worth of souls is GREAT in the sight of GOD and no matter Who we are or What we do he will ALWAYS LOVE US THE SAME.  Because we are his children.

Could u love ur children any less, if they did something bad?, No, they will always be your child and u will always love them.  & the beautiful thing about this, is that it means we are never too far gone, there is NEVER a lost cause, as long as we are breathing and living and everything else we have a chance to understand God's Love and turn toward him.  This is the most beautiful thing I have come to see on my mission and I love it sooo much!

3 Nephi 13: 31-33
There is soo much more I wish I could talk with my beautiful family and firends all day about this but I have to go share this message with my brothers and sisters in Texas right now so I just want yall to know i love you sooo much & you are loved, just the way u are, you have sooo much worth, dont ever forget, dont ever feel lost or alone, because u dont have to and save us all a little heartbreak and realize how great u are, because i love u sooo much and God loves u and our older brother omg i cant even fathom how much he loves u but seriously yall are so great and i love you and never forget it.  James, Thomas, Dad, Mom, Lauren, I love you and nothing can ever change that.  Turn to your Father in Heaven when ur sturggling, he will answer all of your questions and Christ can heal anything that hurts in your heart.  Check out 3Nephi 13:31-33, 14: 7-8Ether 12:41 I love you more than u know

7 Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

8 For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.

41 And now, I would commend you to seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father, and also the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of them, may be and abide in you forever. Amen.

LOVE Eternally, your daughter, your sister, your friend, your cousin, your niece, your LULAS & your favorite person in the world :P Sister Jesperson

MOM & FAMILY & FRIENDS!!!
I love you!!!

ok sooo updates from Serving the Lord in TEHAS!

highlights of this past week--watching my companion get a cupcakes shoved in her face!! hahahah cupcake eating competition!  It got intense lol oh man i love the Dawson family I loved being there!  and this week we went over for carmen (the moms) birthday -pretty much i love this family and they remind me of the texas version of the goates family :) They are sooo great!

I tried to break into another car yesterday....  hahaha  i started opening the door and Sister Sorensen was like WHAT are u doing thats not our car and i was like...

"WHY didnt u stop me!!!  People are going to think we break into cars... !!!!"

she couldnt stop laughing!  I swear our car looks like every other car in texas!!!  oh gosh lol =) hahahahahha

We have been doing alot of knocking and i am actually starting to really like it!  Yesterday we talked to this cute little freshman in marching bannd and he reminded me of the boys!!!!  And we talk to alot of catholics and baptist and every other church in the world!  Its crazy!  but i love telling them abvout the restored gospel!  It always breaks my heart when they reject our message, but when people do listen and you see them change it is the most amazing feeling...  but even with visiting members it truly is amazing being a missionary.

We all have problems and concerns and trials in this life.  One day we went to visit this cute couple in our ward we just felt like we should stop by and we talked about their day and it wasn't that big of a deal but then my companion asked if we could share a message witht hem and the message she shared was not that big of deal to me  but the family we were visiting just started crying and they said they needed that...  it really hit me once again that we are here for Gods children, God has sent us on missions not for ourselves, honseslty us visiting people has nothing to do with us, we are simply messengers from God that are here to uplift Gods children and give them messages from Him.  It was truly amazing to witness, and i love being an instrument in the Lords hands.  My companion is sooo great too, shes such a great example to me of how to love everyone without constraint and just share with them Gods love for them.  When we walk into a house we do our best to bring a spirit of peace and love.

So i have honestly met alot of people here that are racist but they are not always mean they are just ignorant to culture and different customs and i hear someone talking about asians and they said, "oh yeah the oriental people" and i was like... EXCUSE ME!!....  and it just breaks my heart!!!!  Sister Sorensen said she has heard some of the most racist comments here and we are both just like WHAT DID U JUST SAY... and i have to hold her back from beating people up because she is just like me and loves everyone!

OMG!  So pretty much God knows that i love these people and he loves them sooo much and i feel like he has sent me here to share his love with them.  We met with a family that my companion said it was amazing she even talked to us because she usually kicked the missionaries out. But we did bring the spirit and it was amazing because her boy was crying and wouldnt stop and then i prayed and through the entire prayer he did not make one sound and then after i prayed he started screaming again and she was like, "oh my gosh did u hear that oh my gosh he didnt make one sound when u prayed!!!" IT was the spirit! and she was sooo excited and i was so glad she recognized the spirit!

I love u family sooo much and i love being a missionary and helping everyone, the more people i meet the more i realize how important it is we have the gospel to help us in our life and the more i realize we need a SAVIOR!  Could u imagine this world without a SAVIOR!  I definitely couldn't and im soo greatful for him everyday and i can turn to him and God every second, we are not alone... the answers are out there, if ur ever lost of upset, find ur ansewrs.... u dont have to suffer in darkness and loneliness...  God will tell us if we ask, he will help us find our answers if we search and have faith!  I love u all sooo much!

OK u have to watch "together forever" an old church movie it is awesoem LAUREN please watch it with RONE u will die laughing and if he loved the Mormon Batalion Center I'm sure he'll love it :D  oh man!  also i need chelsea freemans address in thailand!  also i need my friend AIRI Nishis's address -can u ask her on facebook for me!!!!  Also laura in Germany & Bernie too!!!

Please watch President Uchtdorf's relief society talk!  Idk why but this thought keeps popping into my head!
click on link below to watch him speak or to read his talk!!
Yesterday we were knocking and we talked to this lady but she said she was not interested bc she already knew Christ and so we asked her if she knew anyone else in the area that could use a message of Jesus Christ and she said, "honey we could all use a message of Jesus Christ!" -best-truest answer ive ever heard!
Dont be afraid to share the gospel with everyone u know- it will only bless them!  & be bold because this is their eternal happiness and salvation that u are talking about here!!!!!  I LOVE U ALL!!!

The secret to happiness in this life is coming closer to Christ-understanding who he is and what he can do for u and then taking a leap of faith-turning your life toward him and following his example!!!  Pray for opportunities to share the gospel!  Never forget u are loved just the way u are in this moment and u are never alone!! HE LOVES US SOOOO MUCH!!!!  please be safe and pray often that u will may never feel alone but always have peace and love in ur heart :)

"Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."

Greetings from San Antonio!

9/28/11

Dear Missionary Families,
We are happy to announce that your son or daughter has safely arrived in the Texas San Antonio Mission!  President Jones and I and our two assistant greeted them at the airport at about 1:45 this afternoon.  What a great group of missionaries!  After collecting all of their luggage, we made our way back to the mission home where we had lunch, individual interviews and some orientation.  They were then taken downtown to the Alamo where they learned a little history and had the opportunity to talk to people and give away a copy of the Book of Mormon. They did a great job with their first true missionary experience in Texas.  We welcomed them back to the mission home for dinner and a few more items of business, then they were off to the assistants apartment for their first night in the mission field.  The sisters stayed at the mission home.
Tomorrow morning we will have an orientation and transfer meeting where your son or daughter will meet their new companion and head out to their new area.  You should expect an email from them on Monday, p-day.  We are so happy and excited to have the opportunity to serve with your sons and daughters.  Thank you for sending such well prepared and wonderful missionaries!
Sincerely,
President and Sister Jones

After spending 3 weeks at the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Utah Sherie is now headed to the Mission Field!!  The foreign land of  San Antonio TEXAS!!!

She was able to call our family from the airport and told us how in LOVE she already is with being on a mission and spending everyday studying and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are so proud of her, and I am SOOO excited for all the adventures and amazing experiences she is about to have in Texas. She challenged me, and all my family to Pray & read our Scriptures everyday!  I made a promise, even if it's just 1 verse a day to try and do that.  The challenge is also extended to YOU!!! She promised it will make our lives happier than they have ever been.  It is great hearing the excitement in her voice and she is so ready to share the Gospel & spread the joy she is feeling.

"God Loves you!"

9/21/11 e-mail

hey mom!  I have ten more minutes!  Its the end of the day and we had a great lesson today!  It was on revelation in church and WHY it is so important for people to come to church!!!
so our teacher is really cool he went on his mission to ghana where ama is from but anyways he asked me to explain to him in sixty seconds what the purpose of going to church was and it was really hard to explain i one min!  .. it was hard and we tried, but then he gave an example and he said:
"church is so important because it is where u belong, your a daughter of god and when u go to church you go to the lords house and u get to spend time with him and talk to him and get closer to him.  in life you have soo many responsibilities and get so busy and u make mistakes and sin and those bring u down, but when u go to church your able to ask for forgiveness and be forgiven and spent time with your savior, your sins are swept away and your able to start over!"
..Church is an escape from the world and it helps prepare us to meet GOD!  ..Without church we would not improve because we need eachother and we need to be reminded weekly, ok that is more than what he said but that is what i learned and i really loved it.  then he pretended to be an investigator and we gave him a tour of the church and it was amazing the spirit we felt!  I loved it! it was like taking our investigators out of the world and into the gospel of christ, it was really amazing and the investigators looked calmer and happier!  i never realized how amazing our church buildings really are, they make u feel safe, and if u cant go to the temple its the closest we can get to our savior and feel his love.  If your ever having a bad day just go to the church and spend some time reading your scriptures and praying, i wish i would have thought of that before!  Well i love you!  I've had a great day my sisters and i went to the Provo Temple and it was sooo nice. i love the temple!  & the gospel i feel like i am being converted every day and im excited to share with the world what i know, i kno0w it will change peoples lives!!!!  I love you!   ..today is my last day on the computer in the MTC!! GOOD NIGHT MOM AND FAMILY I LOVE U SOOOOO MUCCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sister Jespersons First two Letters from the MTC!

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 1:04 PM
ALOHA FAMILY!!!!! IM SORRY IVE BEEN RUNNING AROUND ALL DAY AND DONT HAVE MUCH TIME TO WRITE BUT I JUST SENT YOU ANOTHER LETTER!!!!  i LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!  i'M GOING TO THE TEMPLE RIGHT NOW :) :) :)  & i taught my third investigator yesterday it went really well!!!!  Feel free to email me I will check it next monday!  Oh also m russel ballard came yesterday and he was so great!  I love being a missionary and the spirit in the mtc is amazing!  Also, there are a group of japanese sister missionaries that came the same time as i did and the other night i was in the bathroom and one walked in and looked at me and i said hi and she just started bawling and came and gave me a hug!  she was so cute!  I just hugged her and told her it was OK!!  They came from japan to the mtc just to study and then to go back to japan, but i cant imaging doing the mtc in another country where u barely speak the language!  They are so strong! But it was the coolest experience because she could not really speak englishh and she just started speaking japanese to me and crying and i was able to understand many things she said from studying japanese and i used my little bit opf japanese to ask ehr what was wrong and to tell her it was ok and i dont even know but it was amazing and the coolest experience!  I apologized to her in japanese that my japanese was not very good and she said it was perfect haha it was amazing!  If i spent all the time studying just to help this sister, it was definitely worth it!  It was such an amazing experience she was so happy that i could understand her and with her broken english and my broken japanese we were able to communicate!!!  She finally stopped crying and i introduced her to my friends and she was sooo happy my friends did not know any japanese so i translated for them and taught them some japanese words to say to our new friend!  She was so happy she came back with her japanese roomates and all of them cried and hugged us!  Idk how God does it, but he really prepares us to help people and puts us in the right place so we can help each other!  Now whenever we see them around the MTC we all wave and say hello and i think the japanese sisters feel like they are not so alone here, even though we do not speak the same language perfectly!!!!  My roomates couldnt believe how cute the japanese girls were and they never met anyone from japan before!  It's funny because i really do feel out of my element sometimes when im surrounded by all americans!  But i received witness that i was not suppose to go to japan on my mission becuase it is not about me, it is about the people!  I'm really learnign that and I'm excited to go to Texas and teach the people!  But in the MTC i love speaking with the international missionaries adn helping them feel more home.  I also met a missionary going to LA from Korea and I said Hello to him in Korean and he was so shocked and asked me how i knew that and i tols him some of my best friends are from Korea and then i asked him if heliked korean dramas and he was like WHAT you know korean dramas and i said OF COURSE and started listing the ones i liked!  He was sooo excited to talk about Korea and he told me about how he studied in utah and how different it was from korea and how hard it was and it was a great conversation!  He was beaming when i left and i honestly feel like i have helped these missionaries by being able to relate to them and talk to them!  I know how hard it is to be in a foreign place and people just want to be understood i love how i can do this!  My sisters are also sooo great!  They are from Provo, Myton Utah and Colorado and their going to nebraska and las vegas!  They are so fun!  The sister going to las vegas is so fun, we are very similar in personalities and so it helps to relate to someone when im struggling with teaching.  both of our companions are really outgoing and love to talk its so funny bc the first lesson we both could barerly get a word in bc they wouldnt stop!  But were working on it with them and its just nice to have someone to relate too, were also soo nice we hate pressuring people to ba baptized but we are learning!  I lvoe you soooooo much! ill ttys thank you for being th ebest mom, dad, brother, and sister!!!!! :)  If your every struggling think of the atonement :)

9/10/11

Aloha Familia =)

How is the greatest family in the world?! I hope you are doing great! I love you guys more than you know! Its my 4th day in the MTC & I don't even know where to start!
I feel like I have been here for 4 MONTHS so much has happened!! We are constantly studying, teaching, learning, praying & doing it all over again. I honestly feel like 1 Nephi 1:16:

"16 And now I, Nephi, do not make a full account of the things which my father hath written, for he hath written many things which he saw in avisions and in bdreams; and he also hath written many things which he cprophesied and spake unto his children, of which I shall notmake a full account."

lol the MTC is many challenges followed by many spiritual highs! I've never felt so close to my Savior & i have never felt so weak at the same time! Being a Missionary is definately the most humbling experience i have EVER HAD! & the GREATEST!! I honestly want to invite all my wonderful & amazing siblings to go on a mission!! I honestly feel like i had no idea what the Gospel of Jesus Christ was really about until I came here!

God is sooooo amazing & his Plan is so great!! The Gospel is the secret to all happiness in Life! Everything I put above the Gospel before coming here is just... its hard to explain other than the Gospel is TRUE & I know that when u dont fully understand everthying & when u live surrounded by so many worldly things its easy to put things before your faith. But I promise you that if you put Faith in Christ before everything else in like you will gain more happiness than you know because coming unto Christ helps us become better versions of ourself. We become the best person we can be. when we get closer to Christ we start to repent for our daily mistakes & trespasses against God & we are releived from all feelings of guilt. When we are obedient & follow Christs example we gain the Holy Ghost, a member of the God head to be our companion & guide us in our life & the greatest of ALL is when we come to understand the Atonement of Christ. When we believe that Christ ssuffered everything & that he does understand us & he walked that lonely path, utterly alone we will realize that we never have to be alone in this life. That is the gift Christ gives to us if we simply come unto him.

Question: "You want to know how you can have all of this???????"

Answer: "Through growing your faith in Christ by praying to know for yourself, reading the Scriptures to find answers to any of your questions & going to church to partake of the holy sacrament & be uplifted by the Holy Ghost & Spirit felt there through the testimonies of Friends & Family!"

Yeah.. LOVE it =)!! So.... want to know the Sherie Missionary stories?!.. or should i say SISTER JESPERSON!!!!!

I have 3 roommates & we do everything together!! They are the BEST!! Sister Van Does, Sister Unice (like from the movie 'Shes the Man' Unis lol - shes the best :) & Sister Fitzgerald my companion!!

In my district there are 40 Elders and 4 Sisters, US lol!! We <3 it, we are their moms & take care of them & they respect us & stand when we come in the room & ask us for help & we keep them in line ;) !

So I know your waiting for the funny stories!!! So the Caf..... YES i have spilt my food about 3 X this week (but out of 4 days)!! I say thats pretty good :))

All the Elders & Sisters in my District will not let me forget one thing I did!!!! :( :l :'{ lol So....... what happened was....... We were role playing in class & i was soooo tired, it was like the 11th hour of studying that day & I was 'the Missionary' & my companion was 'the Investigator' & I challenged her to be baptized & she said:
"Why do i have to be baptized?"
& FOR THE LIFE OF ME I could not THINK of a Single reason!!!!! HELLO what is the point of Missionary work!!!
Reasons to get Baptized Duhh!!:
*Remission of Sins
*Gift of the Holy Ghost
*Follow Christ.......... (and sooo many other reasons)
Anyways I seriously went BLANK & I was looking down at the ground & then I thought if I spoke slowly it will come to me. So I tipped my head up really fast & looked straight at my investigator & said:
"Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo............"
Nothing !!! Nothing came & I said:
"Sooo......."
So long my companion bust up laughing!!!! So today in class the teacher asked me a question & all the Elders & Sisters looked down & then flipped their hair back and said... "Sooooooooooooooooooo....." & then everyone bust up laughing!! :/ they wont let me live it down hahahahahahahaha! My teacher said if I dont know what to say a tip would be to just be silent rather than legnthening my words.... LOL!!! "OK,..ok fine" I said! But that should show you how tired we all are here lol!! I hope you like that story I will share more later!! :)

I love you all SOOOOooooooo Much LOL!!

<3 Thank you for the letters! I'm the envy of my whole district because I've gotten one each day :]
